Prof. Paola Fredi was born in Rome on April 9th 1949. She was a Researcher at the Department of Earth Science (University of Rome “La Sapienza”) from July 1980 to October 1992 and Associate Professor of Geography at the Faculty of Mathematic, Physical and Natural Science of same University from November 1992 to October 2000. Since November 2000 she is Full Professor of Physical Geography and Geomorphology at the Faculty of Mathematic, Physical and Natural Science of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
The scientific activity of Prof. Paola Fredi is testified by more than 100 publications on themes of Quantitative Geomorphology, focussing in particular on the evaluation of erosion entity in drainage basins, of Volcanic Geomorphology and Morphotectonics.
She is Chair of the Tectonic Geomorphology Working Group of the International Association of Geomorphologists. She has been President of the Italian Association of Physical Geography and Geomorphology (AIGeo) in the period 2016-2012 and Delegate of the National Council for Research of Italy at the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG).
At present she is member of the AIGeo Executive Committee in charge for the international relationships.
In 2016 the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences has awarded her with the Certificate of Excellence for her teaching activities.
In 2017 the International Association of Geomorphologists has honoured her with the IAG Honorary Fellowship
